L'Allemagne détient le record de participations à l'Eurovision, avec 68 éditions depuis sa première apparition en 1956. En 2025, le duo Abor & Tynna a défendu les couleurs allemandes avec le titre Baller, qui s'est classé 15ème, mais a rencontré un vif succès sur les plateformes d'écoutes et parmi les fans. Parmi les artistes récents, on se souvient de Lena, gagnante en 2010 avec Satellite, ou encore Michael Schulte, acclamé en 2018 pour sa chanson You Let Me Walk Alone, classée 4e.
Membre du Big Five, l'Allemagne bénéficie d'un accès automatique à la finale du concours chaque année. Elle a accueilli l'Eurovision à trois reprises, la dernière fois en 2011 à Düsseldorf, après la victoire de Lena.

L'événement reste un rendez-vous populaire outre-Rhin, avec une audience de 64 % pour la finale en 2025, soit 9 millions de téléspectateurs. Le choix du représentant allemand passe généralement par une sélection nationale, Unser Lied für…, un format télévisé qui mêle prestations en direct et votes du public et d'un jury professionnel. Avec quelques années difficiles au classement, l'Allemagne semble retrouver une détermination à envoyer des chansons compétitives.
